The art
What is Hapkido?
Hapkido is a dynamic martial art of Korean origin. Its name literally means “the art of coordinated power.”
Hapkido is a hybrid martial art that blends striking and kicking techniques similar to Taekwondo with throws, takedowns and extensive joint locking techniques. Weapons such as the staff, sword, short stick and cane are learned at higher levels. In addition to learning effective self defense, Hapkido training provides the student with the means to improve their physical fitness, awareness, flexibility and self confidence.
Decatur Martial Arts Academy is certified and recognized by the World Kido Federation/Hanminjok Hapkido Association.
